Many thousands of completely innocent people are wasting away in America's prisons, "collateral damage" of our out-of-control legal system. DNA exonerations, while numbering in the hundreds, reveal but the tiniest fraction of this problem - - conservatively, over 10,000 innocents are wrongly convicted each year.
Wrongful convictions and incarcerations cost taxpayers billions every year; they tragically ruin innocent lives; they violate our trust in law enforcement; they undermine respect for our laws; and, ironically, make all of us less safe - - an innocent in prison leaves the criminal free to commit more crimes.
Assembly line convictions must be stopped, and convicted innocents freed and made whole.
